It
was at a family get together where Tom became inspired to play
the guitar. His cousin, Paul Musso, was led about wearing
sunglasses while pretending to be the blind guitarist/singer
Jose Feliciano. The impersonation made such an impression
on Tom that he decided that he wanted to be able make the same
connection with people through music. The following week he asked
Paul to teach him how to play the guitar.
Tom's intriguing compositional approach springs from his constant
use of innovative tunings for his guitar. This technique enables
him to use a unique harmonic vocabulary that gives Perpetual
Motion its characteristic depth and color. His fingerstyle
technique provides both harmony and melody to create a contrapuntal
foundation for the rest of the band. He studied music at the
University of Colorado at Denver and guitar and composition
with Steve Mesple' of Wind Machine. Tom is an instructor
in rock, jazz, acoustic fingerstyle, and composition. |
